​Who is that Charles guy?

My entire life I’ve been fascinated by captivating an audience through story telling. Growing up folks who often say “Charles exaggerates a lot of details” but I’d simply insist that “I only changed the mundane part of the story. Look how invested and excited everyone was with a few little tweaks!” Ever since I’ve continued to expand my horizons in order to captivate others.

Life Outside of Writing

I have three wonderful children that have brought so much joy to my world. Whether we’re playing games together, going on walks, or just tackling daily challenges I am so fortunate to have them in my life.

I’m happily married to one of the most special people in my world. We’ve been together for close to a decade and done so much together. Whether she’s encouraging me from the side lines, or helping keep me on track I wouldn’t be where I was today without my amazing partner.

What Inspires my writing?

A few years ago I was telling a family member about this game I was playing and how wonderful and moving the narrative was. My aunt walked in hearing the story and exclaimed “Is this a book? It sounds amazing!” and when I told her it was a video game she replied “Oh…that’s too bad. I’m not very good at games. That story sounded really interesting…”. I reflected on this for awhile and thought to myself

I wonder how many people miss out on these amazing stories
simply because they’re locked behind video games?
I’ve played a lot of story focused games.
I could write stories like those for people to enjoy!

Throughout my life I’ve experienced many beautiful stories. When I work on my projects I often think back to those experiences and ask myself
What stood out to me?
How did it make me feel?
Why did it make me feel that?!
And I’ll use that to help expand a scene or idea.
